For property managers
Add a property and its units
Add a rental property to your account and set up the units inside it.
Before you start
- You need to be a property manager, account owner, or admin.
- Your plan sets how many properties you can manage (Free 1, Pro 20, Portfolio unlimited). If you are at your limit, you are prompted to upgrade.
Steps
- Select Properties from the menu, then New property.
- Fill in the property details. - Name, a label you will recognize, like "123 Main St". - Address, plus apartment or suite if any, City, Province, and Postal code. As you type the address, matching suggestions appear. Pick one to fill the city, province, and postal code for you. - Map. A map sits under the address and follows what you enter. It recentres when you pick a suggestion and when you finish typing a full address. You can also drag the map so the pin sits on the exact spot, and the address fields update to match. Pinch with two fingers to zoom on a phone, or use the plus and minus buttons. Typing the address by hand always works too, so the map is optional. - Property type, such as Single-family, Townhouse, Condo, Apartment, Multiplex, Commercial, or Other. - Year built is optional.
- Save the property.
- Open the property and add its units. Each unit has a label like "Unit 1" or "Main", plus optional details such as bedrooms, bathrooms, size, parking, furnished, and pets. On Pro and up you can also set a unit's market rent for benchmarking.
What happens next
- The property and its units are ready to use when you create a lease, which links a tenant to a unit.
- A single-family home is simply a property with one unit.
Troubleshooting
- "Plan limit reached". You have hit your plan's property limit. Open Billing from the menu to upgrade and add more.
- You cannot see a property. Managers only see properties they are assigned to. An account owner or admin assigns managers to properties.
