Get notified on the Wealtharu app when a tenant replies

The Wealtharu app can tell you the moment a tenant replies, even when the app is closed.

Is the app available yet

Not to everyone. The iOS and Android app is in limited testing and is not in the App Store or Google Play yet. If you are not part of that testing, use Wealtharu on the web, where you can install it to your home screen and turn on notifications there.

The rest of this article is for people who already have the app.

Turn notifications on

  1. Open the app and sign in.
  2. On the Messages screen, look for Know the moment a tenant replies and tap Turn on notifications.
  3. Your phone asks whether Wealtharu may send notifications. Choose to allow it.

That is all. There is nothing to configure per device beyond the one tap.

What a notification looks like, and why it says so little

A notification reads New message and nothing else. It never contains the tenant's name, the message, an address, or a dollar amount, and this is on purpose.

To reach your lock screen a notification has to travel through Apple's and Google's networks, which are outside Canada. Your tenant data does not leave Canada, so the notification carries only enough to know that something happened and which conversation to open. When you tap it, the app fetches the actual message over your normal, secure connection.

What you get notified about

The same events you already chose. Notifications on the app follow your existing per-event notification settings, so if you have turned an event off, your phone stays quiet about it too. To change what you hear about, open Settings on Wealtharu on the web and find your notification preferences.

The app is an extra way to hear about those events, not a replacement. Your email and text notifications carry on exactly as before.

Reading and clearing

  • Tapping a notification opens that conversation.
  • The number on the app icon is how many conversations are waiting for you. It clears itself as you read them, on any device.
  • A push that arrives while you are already in the app does not interrupt you. The inbox just updates.

Signing out

Signing out turns notifications off for that phone straight away. Sign back in and you can turn them on again.

Troubleshooting

  • You said no and want to change your mind. Your phone will not ask twice. Open your phone's Settings, find Wealtharu, and allow notifications there. Then reopen the app.
  • Nothing arrives. Check the event is not switched off in your notification preferences under Settings on the web. Also check the conversation belongs to a property you are assigned to, since you are only told about the properties you manage.
  • You have several Wealtharu accounts. Notifications are per account. Switch to the other account in the app once and it starts notifying you there too.
  • A notification opens the inbox instead of the conversation. That happens when the conversation is no longer one you can open, for example it was deleted or reassigned. The app leaves you on the inbox rather than showing you something that is not there.
