For property managers
Bring back a tenancy you archived, rejected or withdrew by mistake
You moved a tenancy one step too far, or you withdrew an applicant who has since changed their mind. The stage now reads Archived, Rejected or Withdrawn, and the Move to menu is gone.
You do not have to recreate the tenancy. Reopen it.
Reopen it
- Open the lease.
- In the header, where the Move to menu normally sits, choose Reopen tenancy.
- Pick a reason and add a note if it helps whoever reads this later.
- Choose Reopen tenancy again to confirm.
The tenancy goes back to the stage it was in just before it finished, and you carry on from there using the ordinary Move to menu. Nothing that was charged, paid or signed changes.
Where it goes back to
One step, not to the beginning.
- Archived goes back to Deposit settled, which is the only stage it could have come from. This is the one to use when a final bill turns up after you closed the tenancy.
- Withdrawn and Rejected go back to whichever stage the tenancy was actually in when it finished. If the record of that is missing, because the tenancy finished before Wealtharu started keeping stage history, it comes back at the earliest stage it could have been in and you move it forward from there.
When it will not let you
Every refusal tells you what to do first.
- The lease is in Archived items. That is a different thing from the Archived stage. Restore it from Archived items, then reopen its stage.
- A deposit is still held. Return or settle the deposit first. This is the same rule that stops you settling a tenancy over a live deposit in the first place.
- The unit has been sold. A sold unit cannot hold a tenancy, so this one has no way forward.
The stage history
Every stage change on a tenancy is listed under Stage history on the lease overview, newest first, including how it happened: from the stage control, by the move-in wizard, when the lease was signed, by a renewal, by the automatic month-to-month rollover, or by a reopen. A reopen is marked, with its reason and note.
The history starts from the day this shipped, so an older tenancy has nothing listed until its next stage change. That is normal, not a fault.
This is tooling, not legal advice.
